FC Lahden uusi päävalmentaja on 44-vuotias Ricardo Duarte. Sopimus kattaa kauden 2024 loppuun.
Portugalilainen on tuttu nimi suomalaisessa jalkapallossa muun muassa AC Oulun, IF Gnistanin ja Vaasan Palloseuran riveistä. Lisäksi hän on työskennellyt Suomen Palloliitossa.
FC Lahden puheenjohtaja Mika Halttunen toivottaa Duarten tervetulleeksi Lahteen.
– Ricardo on kokenut valmentaja ja hän on ollut tiukoissa paikoissa urallaan. Haluamme peliimme muutosta ja uskomme, että hän on tähän kohtaan oikea mies johtamaan FC Lahtea. Tavoitteenamme on pidempiaikainen yhteistyö, mutta nyt keskittyminen on täysillä loppukaudessa, päättää Halttunen.
Ricardo Duarte palaa mielellään Suomeen ja tarttuu uuteen haasteeseen Lahdessa innolla.
– Olen todella innoissani paluustani Suomeen ja nimityksestä FC Lahden päävalmentajaksi. Lahti on yksi Suomen merkittävimmistä jalkapallokaupungeista ja nyt meillä on mahdollisuus vaikuttaa sen historiaan. Tilanne ei ole helppo, mutta joukkueessa on parempia pelaajia kuin miltä sarjataulukko tällä hetkellä näyttää. Olen varma, että tiimityöllä ja yhteisellä omistautumisella parannamme ja teemme kaikki Lahden kannattajat jälleen ylpeiksi joukkueesta, Duarte kertoo.
Ricardo Duarte aloittaa tehtävässään heti.

Ricardo Duarte is FC Lahti’s new head coach
FC Lahti’s new head coach is 44-year-old Ricardo Duarte. The contract covers the end of the 2024 season.
The Portuguese is a familiar name in Finnish football, e.g. from AC Oulu, IF Gnistan, Vaasan Palloseura and Finnish FA.
FC Lahti chairman Mika Halttunen welcomes Duarte to Lahti:
-Ricardo is an experienced coach and he has been in tight spots in his career. We want a change in our game and we believe that he is the right man to lead FC Lahti at this point. Our goal is longer-term cooperation, but now the focus is fully on the end of the season, concludes Halttunen.
Ricardo Duarte is happy to return to Finland and takes on a new challenge in Lahti with enthusiasm:
– I am really excited to return to Finland and to become the head coach of FC Lahti. Lahti is one of the most representative football towns in Finland and now, we have a chance to contribute to its history. Situation is not easy but the team has better players than what the league table currently looks. I am sure with teamwork, dedication and togetherness we will improve and make all Lahti supporters once again proud of the team.
Ricardo Duarte will start his job immediately.
